I'm BACK!

As punishment for going AWOL for the oh, millionth time...

Pay it Forward in a Crafty Kind of Way

I saw this at my friend Lisa's BLOG and thought that I don't have enough on my plate, so why the heck not add something else to do?

Here's how it works....The first 5 people to respond to this post will get something made by me, especially for you.

This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:

1- I make no guarantees that you will like what I make but I hope you will.
2- What I create will be just for you.
3- I have a year to get it to you.
4- You have no clue what it's going to be. It’s a surprise to both of us at this point.

The catch? You must re-post this on your blog and offer the same to the first 5 people who do the same on your blog.

Day Two - 30 Day Challenge

My legs have officially formed a mutiny. They are refusing to work properly. I feel like a marionette. I'm not entirely convinced that they won't just buckle under me while walking.

Today consisted of walk/runs, kick backs and knee lifts, side squats with bend overs, alternating lunges, arm curls, shoulder presses and some tennis (which I apparently have horrible hand-eye coordination.) Thankfully NO inline skating!

Day One - EA Sports Active

So I took the plunge a few days ago and bought the EA Sport Active for the Wii. I need to reign in this upward spiral of weight gain I've been on for, oh, basically forever.

I started the 30 Day Challenge today. I'm officially the most out of shape person alive. I set my course on Easy and I'm pretty sure the game was trying to kill me. I had a few not so choice words for my trainer when we did Inline skating FOR THE 2ND TIME.

Inline skating for those without the game consists of you squatting down, then jumping from that position, only to immediately return to the squat. Repeat 9 times! Yes 9.

The rest of the workout consisted of some walking/running, some squats, arm curls and side squats.

By the end I was huffing and puffing and barely made it up the stairs to the shower.

Can't wait for tomorrow. (ya, right!)

I am Old and Why Ally Will Always Know Her Metal Bands

We took Ally to her 1st hockey game today.

That's not why I feel old.

She wanted to know "when the hockey was going to start?" while piling in the popcorn.
3 minutes into the 1st period she started asking "when's the hockey going to end?"

During a break in the action, "You Give Love a Bad Name" started playing. The 3 teenagers behind us started guessing who sang it. THEY HAD TO GUESS...

Now I feel old!

"I think its Poison..."
"No, no...Its probably Motley Crue..."
"My mom loves 80's music"
"Ya, I think its Motley Crue"

Seriously?!?! Motley Crue?! Poison?!?! The seventeen year olds of today can mistake Bon Jovi for Motley Crue or Poison? They had to call one of their parents for the answer.

Now I feel old. Very, very old.

Then of course, in their next breath, one of the teenagers answered his cell and began to discuss how he shouldn't be bothered with a phone call when the only stollen prescription drugs involved are Adirol or Xanax. He doesn't move for anything less than "some good X".

I am old. Very, very old. AND if a lack of 80's metal band knowledge separates Ally from drugs, she will be very, very well versed!

Allison vs The Probe

I never really wrote about our experience with the impedance probe. Let's just say it will be a cold day in hell before I put her through that again. She was pathetic.

She wouldn't drink.

She wouldn't eat.

She wouldn't talk.

She wouldn't even swallow her own spit...

We ended up pulling it out early the next morning before we brought it all back to the hospital.

It was a horrible experience. My heart broke into a 1,000 pieces that day and night. Watching my child rather drool on herself then swallow. Refusing to talk. Refusing to even cry anymore.

But that didn't stop us from taking pictures.

SO without further ado...Here's

Death by Father Winter

Winter is slowly killing us. If my child spends another day indoors, without fresh air or the ability to run off her boundless energy, I may be forced to ship myself south.

Things are not pretty here.

Ally is wound so tight at the moment that the only sound in our house is screaming.

Have I mentioned its not pretty?

We have not seen grass since Christmas and there's still a good 6" that needs to melt.

I weep looking at pictures others are posting of shorts and short sleeves. Its still t-shirts under long sleeved shirts, under sweatshirts, under snow coats for us here.

And its only February...

Christmas and a Health Update

Ally-vintage

Ally goes for her next endoscopy tomorrow which will also involve an impedance probe being placed which she will have to wear for 24 hours. She will also have her lab work redone. Her last batch came back off the charts high for ongoing auto-immune damage, which as a T1 diabetic is scaring the hell out of me.

We won't get the results until 1/27 and that just seems way too far away.
